After many years of lugging compost from right at the back of the nursery, we have managed to now store it in a super convenient place! Amongst all the other building projects this winter, we managed to build a fab compost shed using reclaimed tin roofing!!
This section within our sales area we had initially reserved to be a planting display bed. However, the upkeep was too much, so we decided to convert it into a display area for our shrubs.
We finally managed to get our summer house up! (even though it currently has no roof…). We are hoping to get the roof on this winter. This will be our area for payments, to sell little locally made products and to show off Duncans design work.
So now we have more space for plants, and therefore more plants… watering has become an issue! Even though with the spring we have the capacity to water all of our plants (and many, many more!), our water tank doesn’t store enough to even water one quarter of the nursery. This means we are often seen trapsing backwards and forwards to the spring, making our job of watering so much harder. So, we brought in new tanks! We have put down new slabs to ensure they are level and with a lot of man power rolled the tanks into place. We created the high beds for plant storage, which in future will become part of the sales area, the fence in front of the high bed acts as a support for some of our bigger trees ensuring they don’t fall over. We decided to paint the boards to give the nursery a splash of colour and to protect the wood.
